Junction welcomed Llanrug to the flyover on what was a very warm day and were hoping to get back on track with a win against an unpredictable Llanrug side who last season won at the flyover 2-0.
In the dugout was the returning Shane Cartwright and it was now Lee Thornton’s turn to be side lined with their FAW bans, I would like to comment on this but I’ve been advised not to.
Junction were without five first teamers either away through work or play so brought in James Williams, Paul Lloyd and Neil Picton who started the game at centre back.
Junction started the game brightly but within three minutes Pico let a ball slip under his foot and the Llanrug forward went on to score and it was 1-0 to Llanrug.
A disappointing start to the game but with that early goal there was plenty of time to get back in the game.
Junction piled on the pressure but for some reason were caught out again from their own corner kick and a high ball up field wasn't dealt with and the same Llanrug player smashed the ball into the net to make it 2-0 to Llanrug.
H-T 0-2
Junction came out for the second half and lay siege to the Llanrug goal but it took until the 80th minute to get the goal that there possession deserved, a long kick up field from Liam in goal found Paul Cassidy who poked the ball home to give us hope.
We kept the pressure on and had some good shouts for penalties but to no avail and the game slipped away and we suffered our first home defeat of the season in disappointing fashion.
The two goals we conceded were school boy errors and if Junction want to be considered challengers for the league then these errors have to stop, and with key players missing the performance was below what is expected.
