Barrit Cup
Llandudno Junction F. C. 3 Llanystumdwy F.C. 4
A cold, windy day here at the home of Llandudno Junction F.C. the
Flyover for our Barrit cup game against Llanystumdwy. An injury to
Dwyfor Williams before the game meant Gary had to re-shuffle the
team. In the 2nd minute Kyle Williams Llanystumdwy no. 11 had a shot
wide followed by a fine save by Joey. Llanystumdwy where straight at
the Junction from the start and in the 9th minute they got their
break with the Junction defence asleep a ball over from midfield
with the defence appealing for off side, the flag stayed down saw
Meirion Pritchard chip the ball over Joey, goal to Llanystumdwy 1- 0
to them. Junction hit back in the 11th minute a shot by Tom Roberts
who was promoted from the reserve team forcing Gareth Roberts the
goalkeeper into palming the ball out for a Junction corner. Then
following the corner in the 12th minute a good floating cross from
Nathan Jones falling to Tom Roberts who shot & scored on his debut
for the 1st. team 1 –1. This was a typical cup game when in the 20th
minute Idan Williams scored after a defensive mix up 2 – 1 to
Llanystumdwy. Junction had a shot cleared off the line after another
cross by Nathan Jones landing to Tom Roberts who’s shot was somehow
cleared off the line by Steven Griffiths, then followed a yellow
card for Tom Roberts for a foul. In the 36th minute a fine one
handed save by Joey denied Llanystumdwy going further ahead. Then
finally in the 36th minute a Nathan Jones shot scoring to equalise
and put the Junction back in this cup game after some good pressure
from them.
Half Time – Llandudno Junction 2 – Llanystumdwy 2
A substitution by Llanystumdwy at half time with Gareth Jones the
goalkeeper coming off who was suffering from very bad migraine and
on came Carwyn Edwards. In the 57th minute a yellow card for Steven
Griffiths of Llanystumdwy for a bad tackle on Steven Priestly, Gary
was angry with this challenge and following a chat with the referee
was asked to leave the dug out And banished to the stands for the
remainder of the game. Then in the 61st minute a shock for the
Junction a good break by Tom Hughes and a fine shot saw him score &
Llanystumdwy take the lead 3 –2. A yellow card for Nathan Jones
shortly followed then a substitution in the 73rd minute off came
Paul Lloyd and on came Sam Magill for the Junction. In the 75th
minute Tom Hughes broke again and rounded Joey to score 4 –2 to
Llanystumdwy. Junction where now on the back foot but in the 78th
minute a cross into the box saw Darrel Jones head the ball into the
net 3 – 4. Further yellow cards followed as Junction fought for an
equaliser to take the game into extra-time firstly Steven Priestley
then Ben Thomas who had earlier made a fine tackle denying
Llanystumdwy a goal chance. A final substitution by the Junction on
came Andrew Colville with Bobby Colville making way. Junction just
couldn’t get that goal they needed, a cup shock here today at the
Flyover.
